Indigenous Peoples’ Day: Finding Commonality While Celebrating Our Differences

Dear Western Community,

On Monday, October 12 we celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day, a moment that celebrates and honors Native American peoples and commemorates their histories and cultures.  I am honored to have a growing community of Indigenous people at Western, including 954 students at all Western campuses who identify in some way as Indigenous: American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders.

U.S. News Rankings Again Show WWU as Top Public Master’s-Granting School in Pacific Northwest

Western Washington University is the highest-ranking public, master’s-granting university in the Pacific Northwest for the 21st year in a row, according to the 2021 U.S. News & World Report college rankings.

Craig Lawrence Mayberry, July 9, 1966 – August 30, 2020

Craig was born July 9, 1966 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Growing up he enjoyed playing basketball, soccer and especially golf. He was on the Idaho Falls golf team while attending high school. After graduation, he attended Brigham Young University. The following year, Craig served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints in Leeds, England.
