Student and community volunteers are being sought to assist in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program held remotely by Western Washington University from early February through April 15.

Sponsored by WWU’s Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) and Accounting Society in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program is staffed by students from Western and other volunteer members of the community. The VITA program helps low- and moderate-income taxpayers electronically prepare their tax returns.

Western's Net Impact club awarded gold status by its parent organization

Western's Associated Students Net Impact club has recently been awarded gold status by its parent organization. Net Impact is a global organization that encourages the integration of business and sustainability. Western has joined many other universities as an undergraduate chapter of Net Impact, dedicated to campus and community "greening" through innovative, sustainable actions. The club offers its members opportunities to make an impact both locally and nationally, network with community members and business owners, and expand their skill set through relevant experiences.

In the midst of a pandemic, Western Washington University’s total enrollment for fall quarter is higher than anticipated, and the overall percentage of students of color is the highest in the history of the university.

Total fall enrollment, at 15,194, reflects a drop of 5.9 percent from total enrollment in fall 2019. In addition, WWU recorded a 10.2 percent increase in graduate enrollment.
