Pamela LaBorde received her DBA in finance from Louisiana Tech University. She joined Western's faculty in 1990. Her teaching interests include investments and corporate finance, at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Her research focuses on personal financial literacy, pedagogical innovations and market reactions to corporate events. She has published articles in a variety of journals, including the Journal of Financial Education, the Journal of Instructional Techniques in Finance, American Business Review and the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting. She has published several textbooks on the use of a financial calculator and various web-related educational media. In 2012 she won the David Merrifield Research Award for her work with Sandra Mottner on knowledge gains incurred from a personal financial literacy course. More recently, she received the Allette and Cayden Franklin Excellence in Teaching Award for her work in her upper-level Investments course and the MBA Teaching Award.
