Dr. Deepinder Bajwa Recognized with 2023 INFORMS GDN Award

Dr. Deepinder Bajwa, Professor of Management Information Systems (MIS) in CBE’s Department of Decision Sciences, has been honored with the esteemed 2023 INFORMS Group Decision & Negotiation (GDN) "Appreciation for Outstanding Service Award." 

Dr. Bajwa joined CBE in 1999 and has been a full Professor in MIS at WWU since 2011. His research interests focus on the diffusion and impacts of collaborative information technologies. He has published his work in the top journals and conferences in the MIS field including the Journal of MIS, Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, and the Group Decision and Negotiation Journal. Dr. Bajwa was honored with CBE’s Distinguished Research Fellow Award in 2011.

The INFORMS GDN Award was formally presented to Dr. Bajwa during the 2023 Annual Conference held in Tokyo, Japan. This award celebrates individuals who have made exceptional service contributions to the INFORMS GDN section over an extended period. 

The award is granted by the Group Decision & Negotiation (GDN) section of INFORMS, which stands for the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences. INFORMS is recognized as the world's largest professional association dedicated to the decision and data sciences, with a diverse membership including academics, scholars, and professionals from across the globe.

Within INFORMS, the Group Decision & Negotiation (GDN) section stands as a specialized subset. It comprises international scholars and professionals entirely devoted to studying approaches for group decision-making and negotiation processes.

“The 2023 INFORMS GDN Appreciation for Outstanding Service Award is presented to Deepinder Bajwa for his outstanding service contributions to the INFORMS Group Decision and Negotiation (GDN) Section.  He has served the GDN Section in numerous roles, including organizer of the GDN Conference in Bellingham, WA in 2016, Editor of the Conference Proceedings in 2016, Treasurer of the Section from 2002 to 2018, member of the Awards Committee from 2002 to 2010, Chair of the Awards Committee in 2011, member of the Board, and many others.  Since 2009, he has been Associate Editor of the Group Decision and Negotiation Journal.”
