About

Dan Purdy is Senior Instructor of Marketing in the College of Business and Economics at Western Washington University.  Prior to teaching full time Dan was Associate Director of the Western MBA Program (2007-2013) and Director of the Front Door to Discovery, the Community Relations Office at WWU (2013-2017). Previously, Dan worked in the Electrical Power industry both in civilian power plants and as a submarine-based Nuclear Reactor Operator in the United States Navy.

Dan has a passion for holistic marketing including organizational and marketing strategy, marketing research, integrated marketing communications and integrated brand development. Dan has worked for numerous organizations in these areas including Litzia Technology, Brist Manufacturing,Whatcom Transportation Administration, Emergency Reporting, Action Sprout, Western Washington University Residence Life, Western Washington University Libraries, the Western Washington University MBA Program, the Western College of Business and Economics, the Western Washington University Office of University Relations, the Western Washington University Alumni Association, North Coast Credit Union, the United Way of Whatcom County, the Spirit of Hope Foundation and the Western Associated Students Bookstore.

In addition to teaching students in the university setting Dan has a private marketing consulting practice, Real Symple Solutions, where he helps organizations who wish to grow their businesses. Working with for-profit and non-profit organizations roots Dan in the realities of developing, growing, and running a business which greatly inform his teaching methods. What Dan learns from working with his clients he teaches to his students.

Dan has an MBA from Western Washington University and a BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing, also from Western, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Golden Key and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies.
