What is the Stock Market Game?
The Stock Market Game gives teams the opportunity to invest $100,000 in virtual cash in stocks and bonds. Someone (typically a teacher) will serve as an advisor to the student teams (teams usually consist of 3-5 students). Teams compete based on the game date selected and grade level for prizes based on the value of their portfolio at the end of the game. The goal is that through the Stock Market Game (SMG), students acquire the financial know-how and practical skills to reach their financial goals. In addition, teachers have access to a real-world platform for their students to practice and improve on the math and reading they learn in the classroom and one-on-one support from experienced staff, teachers, and financial industry volunteers.
Register Your Class Today
- Go to the SMG Website
- Click "Register"
- Navigate to "View Programs in My Area"
- Enter your zip code and select "Washington Stock Market Game"
- Click "Register for This Program"
- Fill out the "Register Now" information
The game costs $10 per team for the fall and spring games and $20 for the year long game. Full fee scholarships are available and can be applied for simply by checking a box on the invoice you will receive 4 to 6 weeks into the game window. Scholarships are only available if you have two or more students on each team. Schools that opt to play one person teams will be billed $10 per team for the semester games and $20 for the year long game. Reach out to us at burtonk5@wwu.edu if you have any questions.
