About

Jennifer Long joined WWU’s Decision Sciences Faculty in Fall of 2024. She brings a dynamic blend of industry experience and interdisciplinary training to the classroom.

Jennifer holds a BA in Theatre from WWU (class of ’09). She returned to WWU as a pandemic-era MBA student (2020-2022) where she deepened her interest in organizational problem-solving. Her creative and multidisciplinary background informs her teaching and approach to systems thinking—blending narrative insight with analytical rigor.

In 2015, Jennifer completed an intensive UX Design program at Seattle’s School of Visual Concepts and then spent six years working at an information architecture consulting firm where she helped organizations bring clarity to complex digital environments. Her work spanned stakeholder alignment, content modeling, and systems thinking—skills she draws on to support students in building practical, modern competencies in business technology and data literacy.

Jennifer has spoken at national conferences, including Taxonomy Bootcamp (2022) and the Information Architecture Conference (2024).

Outside of the classroom, Jennifer serves on the Board of Directors for Bellingham Arts Academy for youth. She enjoys birdwatching, collecting vintage Muppet memorabilia, and supporting local theatre.
