Dr. Gilbertson joined Western's faculty in 1998, and has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in auditing, financial accounting, and financial statement analysis. Before coming to Western, he completed his Ph.D. at the University of Utah. He also holds an MBA from the University of Montana, and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Southern California. He is a Certified Management Accountant and a Certified Public Accountant.
Professor Gilbertson's research interests include audit quality, auditor litigation, auditor regulation, professional ethics, and securities regulation. His publications have appeared in Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, the Journal of Corporation Law, the Journal of Applied Business Research, the Journal of Accounting, Ethics, and Public Policy, Business Ethics Quarterly, Current Issues in Auditing and The CPA Journal.
He received the Dean's Research Award in 2002, and the 2010 Allette and Cayden Franklin Excellence in Teaching Award, both from the College of Business and Economics.
