About
Dennis R. Murphy is Dean Emeritus of the College of Business and Economics. He received his Ph.D. in 1974 from Indiana University. Prior to coming to Western Washington University, he served on the faculty of Indiana University and of Emory University in Atlanta. He served as Dean of the College of Business and Economics at Western Washington University 1983-2007, and served as Provost and Vice-President of Academic Affairs at Western during 1998-99 and again from 2007-2009. Murphy's teaching and research interests include international trade and finance, commercial banking and corporate governance. Murphy is Chair of the Board of Cascade Financial Corp. and Cascade Bank. He is Past-President of both The United Way of Whatcom County and the Rotary Club of Bellingham and has served on the Boards of several other non-profit and for-profit organizations.
