Claire (Crutchley) Lending is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Finance and Marketing in the College of Business and Economics. She earned her Ph.D. in Finance, MS in Economics and BS in Finance at Virginia Tech University. She is an Associate Professor, Emerita at Auburn University after serving 27 years as a Finance Associate/Assistant professor at Auburn. Dr. Lending’s research investigates the financial impacts of corporate governance structures, including CEO and board of director compensation and characteristics. She also investigates political connections of corporate executives, corporate lawsuits and security issuance. She has published in many journals including Journal of Corporate Finance, Financial Management, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Financial Research, the Financial Review, Journal of Economics and Finance. Dr. Lending teaches financial decision making from the perspective of the manager at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Her teaching style is student centered -- using a flipped classroom style and facilitating student research and presentations.
