"If you’re in a super difficult class, take advantage of your professor's office hours when you’re struggling. The second thing is to register as soon as you can, do not wait until the last minute. I’ve done that and it’s awful. You won’t find any classes that you’re interested in, so as soon as your registration opens, registration for all your classes. “What you put in is what you get out of your classes. Passion and interest are what drive true learning. If you have a love for what you’re learning and doing, you’ll go above and beyond to learn as much as you can. Show up—not just with your body, but your attention too. Raise your hand, ask stupid questions, and relate what you hear to your life and passions. Leaning into the conversation gives you so much more than just laying back and listening. In terms of homework, it’s hard when you're a student to learn time management, but creating a dedicated, distraction-free zone to work can help immensely (on or off campus). I love finding empty basement computer labs on campus to work. The other tool is the “five-minute” rule for doing things you don't want to do. Commit to only five minutes of work and ditch it if you can't stand it, but I promise you, by starting with 5 minutes, you’ll often look up and realize you've worked 5 hours instead.” - Kaitlin Simpson
