Share your career journey and where you are now:

After graduating from WWU in 2016 with a major in Economics and Minors in Math and Energy Studies, I earned an MA in Economics at the University of Toronto in 2017 with the help of a Fulbright Canada grant. I then worked as a research analyst in the Supervision Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond before returning to graduate school at University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall of 2020. Last month, I successfully defended my Ph.D. in Economics. In August, I will begin as an Economist in the antitrust and competition practice at Bates White in Washington, D.C., which has worked on many high-profile cases, such as the recent landmark rulings against Google and Live Nation/Ticketmaster.

What is your favorite CBE Memory

My favorite WWU CBE memory is also my first one, sitting in Matt Roelofs's introductory lecture for the Honors Economics colloquium as he described the concept most often taught first in introductory economics classes: opportunity cost. I felt my dual interests in math and philosophy come together in that moment, and I left class that day only to promptly settle in at Tony's Coffee in Fairhaven (RIP) with my textbook to binge-read the first few chapters. Were it not for that moment, I'd likely be a very unhappy lawyer today instead of a happy economist.
