Jongwook Kim is an associate professor in the Department of Management in the College of Business and Economics at Western Washington University. He received his PhD in Strategic Management from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and prior to that he received a master's degree in International Business from Yonsei University (Seoul, Korea).

His primary research interests are in the area of organizational economics, specifically on the nexus of property rights theory (and institutional change) and interfirm governance forms. For example, he studies the contracting behavior of firms in strategic alliances in high-tech industries such as biotechnology as well how intermediary organizational forms like trading companies can add value to economic transactions. He has published in such journals as Managerial and Decision Economics, the Journal of Management, and Industrial and Corporate Change.

Jongwook teaches the capstone strategic management course and international business operations in the College of Business and Economics as well as the capstone strategy class for the MBA program. His teaching interests in international business focuses on the management of multinational enterprises (MNEs), specifically on the organizational structure of MNEs as they enter foreign markets.
